The Clothing Gig is fashionable.

Tracy's Closet

Creating a boutique out of your (or your friend's) closet can be monetarily beneficial to your wallet and bring you a job. Do you have some nice labels on your clothes? Consider Poshmark as a place to unload them and make a few bucks. Consider it an upper level yard sale. So some things to keep in  mind.

  1. A body form or mannequin is going to help give your clothes a more professional look. Think about it. Ross stores vs. Macy's what is one big difference? Mannequins show off the way an outfit will fit on the average body type. While a pic on a hanger does show the 1 dimensional look, a dress form just looks better.
  2. Make sure to take multiple pictures. Front, back, bottom, top, and sides for shoes and purses. With clothes you want the front, back, label, and possibly a side view or a picture that shows off an unusual or detailed feature of the item.
  3. Skirts and pants are best when described with length from waist to hemline and often times your tops will do better when you measure arm hole to arm hole or the whole bust measurement.
Discounts for multiple items in a bundle saves you time from needing to make a personal offer so that a potential customer is not waiting on you to offer a deal. I usually offer 20% off of two or more. When trying to get the "closet" cleaned out to make room for more merchandise I will offer a 30% deal on two or more items.

So now that you have the closet set up and you've linked to Twitter, Instagram, and Pintrest it is time to look for customers. Most important thing to remember... sharing really is caring!

PS I also purchase on Poshmark, found some great Brooks Glycerin running shoes with next to no wear on the soles for very small fraction of the original price! If you've priced proper running shoes then you know they are not for the faint of heart.
